S:interaction=in/out;in/out;in/out;in/out;in/out;in/out

PS: Помимо прочего файл конфигурации barrels.cfg позволяет так же управлять рецептами крафта для бочек, количеством хранимых предметов и некоторыми другими параметрами, что позволяет достаточно гибко настраивать данный мод. =]

A barrel is a decorative block which can be used as an alternative to storing items in a chest. They were added to Minecraft as part of update 1.14.

Barrels can generate within fishing cottage buildings in villages.

Barrels can be used to store items or blocks in compact spaces. Unlike chests, Barrels can be accessed even if there is a block directly on top of it.

  • Barrels can be used by hoppers to transport items into and out of them.
  • They are considered immovable objects, which means it cannot be moved by pistons.
  • Using the /data merge block command, players can lock barrels using the NBT tag.

Barrels have different properties than chests. For example:

  • Unlike chests, setting two barrels side-by-side will not make a double barrel.
  • Unlike chests, barrels can be opened regardless if there is a solid or transparent block directly above it.
  • In the Bedrock Edition, barrels can be used as fuel to smelt 1.5 blocks in a furnace.

If a village has a barrel but no fisherman, any nearby villager without a profession has a chance to become a fisherman.

Barrels can be crafted with six planks and two slabs of any wood type.

Barrels were added in snapshot 18w44a, however, they could not be interacted with unless a player was in spectator mode, and they could not be crafted. Barrels were able to generate in plains villages in snapshot 18w48a, ice and savanna villages in snapshot 18w49a, and taiga and desert villages in snapshot 18w50a. Barrels were also given an inventory that was similar to that of chests, a crafting recipe, and could also be interacted with in snapshot 18w50a.

Barrels are storage blocks for fluids and some solid blocks, added by Ex Nihilo in Version 1.0.

Different Types of Barrels

The Wooden Barrel is similar to the stone barrel except for a few things. A wooden barrel will leak liquids over time, and also wooden barrels cannot hold lava for a long period of time.

There are six different types of wooden barrels; Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia and Dark Oak. All six types perform the same thing but look slightly different. It also can be used to Summon Endermen with Creepy Dolls.

Wooden Barrels’ Crafting Recipes

A Stone Barrel does the same thing as a wooden barrel except it holds lava without eventually burning up. Its strong walls prevent it from leaking and producing Mossy Blocks. It also can be used to Summon Blazes with Angry Dolls unlike the Wooden Barrel.

Stone barrels were added in Version 1.10 of Ex Nihilo.

Barrels have many uses, where each is quite useful for Skyblock worlds.

Barrels can compost items into dirt when they are filled with organic material. The following table describes what items can be composted and what percentage they contribute to a full barrel of compost.

Item(s) Percentage
Melon (Slice) 4%
Silkworm (Raw or Cooked) 10%
String 4%
Carrot 8%
Egg 8%
Potato (Raw, Cooked, or Poisonous) 8%
Spider Eye 8%
Sugar Cane 8%
Tall Grass 8%
Wheat 8%
Apple 10%
Cactus 10%
Flowers 10%
Lily Pad 10%
Mushrooms 10%
Nether Wart 10%
Rotten Flesh/Zombie Brain 10%
Vines 10%
Leaves 12.5%
Saplings 12.5%
Any Fish (Raw or Cooked) 15%
Bread 16%
Pumpkin Pie 16%
Jack o’Lantern 16.67%
Melon (Whole) 16.67%
Pumpkin 16.67%
Beef (Raw or Cooked) 20%
Chicken (Raw or Cooked) 20%
Porkchop (Raw or Cooked) 20%

When a barrel is completely filled with compostable material, it will start to compost its content. This process takes roughly 100 seconds to finish. After that, the barrel is filled with a block of dirt, which then can be ejected by right-clicking.

Barrels can hold fluids as well as solid blocks. However, when a wooden barrel is filled with lava, it will (obviously) burn down after some time.

As a special twist, barrels placed under the open sky will collect rain on downfall.

A Filled Wooden Barrel near Stone grows mossy stones.

When wooden barrels are filled with water, they turn Cobblestone around into Mossy Cobblestone. This process can only happen when the blocks around are not affected by rain, and will then take 100 mB Water from the barrel.

Also, when a barrel is placed adjacent to a block of Mycelium, it will turn water inside into Witch Water (WARNING: Wooden Barrels may disappear!).

When Water flows above a barrel filled with Lava, it transforms into Obsidian.

If composted dirt is left near Mycelium for a while, it will turn into Mycelium block (thus allowing to obtain Mycelium blocks without Silk Touch)

Stone barrels are also able to spawn some creatures, when tapped with Dolls:

  • A Barrel filled with Lava and tapped with an Angry Doll will summon a Blaze (WARNING: It might explode!)
  • A Barrel filled with Witch Water and tapped with a Creepy Doll will summon an Enderman

When a Barrel is filled with fluids, it can turn some blocks used on them into other items:

Fluid Item Result
Witch Water Sand Soul Sand
Lava Redstone Netherrack
Lava Glowstone Dust End Stone
Water Milk (fluid) Slime Ball
Water Mushroom Stew Witch Water
Water Dust Clay
Lava Water (above the barrel) Obsidian

All the recipes can be done in either stone or wooden Barrels. However, as said above, Wooden Barrels tend to burn down when filled with Lava or Witch Water, so all recipes involving these are recommended to be done in a Stone Barrel.

Barrels work together with the following mods and blocks:

  • Minecraft Vanilla:
    • Hoppers can be used to put items into a barrel, as well as to eject them.
  • Extra Utilities:
    • Both types of Transfer Nodes (Item & Liqu > Gallery Edit
