Hello, everyone. Today, i’m gonna teach you how to import a minecraft world into Cinema 4D (I think it works with Blender, 3Dmax and Maya as well :)). [WARNING: This may not work with Cinema 4D r13 or any other version than r12]
First off you got to have these things:
- Cinema 4D (Or Blender, 3Dmax or Maya)
- Mineways (I will explain how to get that later in the tutorial)
- And of course, a Minecraft world.
Lets get started:
First off you gotta get Mineways. Just go to the website (by clicking on the text) then
for PC you just click «Download for PC» and for Mac you click on «Download for Mac»
and follow the instructions. Now you want to create 2 folders. 1 named «Mineways» and
another named something like «Minecraft World».
First step:
Extract the Mineways.zip into the Mineways folder. Now double click the «Mineways» program. Now a program should have started. click on «File > open world» and click on your Minecraft world.
Now hold the right mouse button down and select the area you want to export into Cinema 4D. Now a popup window is gonna ask y ou something about some of the blocks being visible under some layer. Just click «yes».
Now that it is selected, click «File > Export model for rendering » and save it in your «New World» folder, name it something an click «save». A lot of stuff should pop up now. You HAVE to make sure that the «Make each block» is checked (under the «scale» section) and set to 100 mm high. Then click «Ok» and let it finish.
Then close Mineways.
Now on to the next step:
Go to Cinema 4D or one of the other programs and click on «file > open» and find the folder you created your Mineways World in. Now click on the «[name of your world] . obj » and click «open». Make sure the scale is set to 1000 centimeters.
Now your world is imported and we can move on to the last step: Colouring.
First off, select one of the materials and then click on the materials tab and press «CTRL-A» this can be a little difficult , but the goal is to select all of the materials, so just do that.
Then click on the «texture» tab and navigate to the folder that you created your Mineways world in. Now click on the «[name of your world/size] ] -RBG» and select «open».
Under the texture, there is something called «sampling». Select where it says «Multiple Values» and click on «none» (if it doesn’t work, skip that step). Turn off » specular » and turn on «alpha». Click on «texture» and select «[name of your world]-RBGA» in the folder where the RBG also was. Select the samples and set it to none once again.
Now exit materials.
And there you have it: Now you should have a fully coloured world. If it looks strange make sure to render it, and it will look natural. To make it even better, create a simple light and place it over one of the corners of the world.
